Professional Consultation for Therapists

I provide professional consultation for licensed therapists who want to deepen and expand their clinical work.

My theoretical orientation is psychodynamic, transpersonal and Jungian. I offer mentorship, guidance, and support when it comes to your clinical concerns, countertransference issues and scope of competence.

I am happy to work with early career clinicians interested in grief and loss, trauma, complex trauma, highly sensitive people/neurodivergence, spirituality/spiritual emergence, issues around gender from a feminist perspective, and the unique struggles of folks in middle age.

Psychedelic Integration Therapy and Cannabis Use

No matter how seasoned a clinician you are, if you have clients who are using psychedelics or cannabis, or would like to, and you want to learn more about how to help your clients integrate these powerful experiences in your work together, I can also offer my expertise in these areas of special interest and practice. We can explore how to work with your clients to minimize harm when it comes to psychedelic or cannabis use, or how to identify those who we may need to gently discourage from seeking out these substances. If you have a client who has had a problematic experience, I can also offer you assistance with this often complicated form of traumatization or re-traumatization.

As a clinician, you might be very new to the idea of psychedelics and cannabis as healing agents and want to consult with someone experienced in what these substances can offer your clients (or the risks they might pose). Or perhaps you are interested in becoming a psychedelic therapist yourself or an integration specialist, but would like assistance from someone more experienced in these areas to discuss your professional development or explore certain cases with. There is a lot of energy and excitement around psychedelic psychotherapy in the field right now, and many clients are eager to partake in something that feels a bit like a magic bullet to healing. Although I believe psychedelic therapy holds some promise for many who need it most, we are in the earliest stages of being able to offer this kind of treatment legally, ethically and safely as clinicians. There are very real risks involved for both clients and clinicians when it comes to engaging in psychedelic therapy, and I am passionate about countering some of the hype and misinformation that can bring harm to all involved.

My expertise and experience in the areas of cannabis use and psychedelic therapy and integration go back to my undergraduate studies in Ameriandian psychiatry. I wrote my undergraduate thesis on susto (or fright sickness/soul loss/P.T.S.D.) and the ancient South American treatment of soul retrieval using the potent psychedelic ayahuasca with a shaman. I studied transpersonal and psychodynamic psychologies while earning my Master’s degree in counseling at the California Institute of Integral Studies and through my clinical training at The Psychotherapy Institute in Berkeley, CA. From 2017 - 2022, I was an adherence rater for M.A.P.S. on the MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for P.T.S.D. studies. In that role, I watched hundreds of hours of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy preparatory sessions, MDMA sessions and integration sessions via video, rated the therapists based on their adherence to the treatment protocol, and provided clinical feedback to the therapist team supervisors. I have been trained in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and have provided clinical supervision at Sage Institute (now Alchemy Community Therapy) in Berkeley, CA. I am currently training in Jungian Oriented Psychotherapy at The Jung Institute of San Francisco.

Although I do not offer cannabis-assisted psychotherapy right now in my own practice due to legal issues with licensing and liability, I have written up a protocol for cannabis-assisted psychotherapy that was published on The Psychedelic Support Network. I have studied cannabis use and abuse at length and also wrote an article for The Psychotherapy Institute on the complexities of cannabis use and abuse in psychotherapy.

If you would like to speak further about consulting with me, please use the form below to contact me. I offer ongoing weekly consultation for licensed therapists. I also offer one or two time consults for therapists or prospective therapists who want to learn more about psychedelic therapy and/or integration and harm reduction, the clinical implications of psychedelics or cannabis, the emerging field of psychedelic therapy (and its potential pitfalls), or specific case consultation. My fee for a 50-minute consultation session is $200.
